Welcome to the Canadian Racing Pigeon Union site
This site was designed to serve our members, as well, to inform the general public about our wonderful hobby. For more information about our hobby, click on "Our Sport" in the top menu. Please click on "Our Sport" in the The hazy days of summer are now upon us.

The next edition of the PigeonPost will be mailed the end of the week January 8th. Watch your mailbox for your copy. If you do not receive a copy by January 20 please contact the office.
The 2023 awards will be announced in the coming weeks. Watch your email and check out our website for results. We will be publishing all winners in the spring edition of the post.
The CRPU Board of Directors are currently striving to find new members to join the CRPU Board of Directors if you think you can contribute to the board and be available to be a part of it. Please send us a letter with a write up about yourself and how you feel you can contribute to the Canadian Racing Pigeon Union. Experience not necessary we are looking for great people who can continue to lead the CRPU and meet the needs of the members. Please contact Secretary Sue Wiltshire at secretary@crpu.ca we can send you the form and information in regards to the position. We are currently looking for three new board members.
The 2024 bands have been sent out to all our members who have paid their 2024 membership. Please make sure band secretaries you only hand out the bands to those who have paid for their 2024 membership. If you are not sure please call head office to confirm. We will be checking this year to make sure those using the bands are paid members. Send us your band list for your club. We are requesting that any individual member not share their bands with non members. This has been a CU rule and will be followed.
Lost Birds
Our lost bird wizard is available to locate the registered owner of the lost pigeon. Please use the wizard to see if the racing pigeon is listed. If the pigeon is not a race pigeon it will not be listed on the lost bird wizard. We have a tab above to help you to care for the lost bird until the owner can figure a way to get the pigeon picked up or released. Please note some lost birds can be kilometers away from the owner and they may not be unable to pick the bird up right away. They will help to arrange a way to get their birds back home whether they get someone else pick up the bird or have you release the bird away from your home to allow the pigeon to use its instinct to fly back home. If you contact the owner and they have not returned your message within 24 hours please contact head office with an email or one phone call. We will get back to you. Lots of birds go missing each race and we appreciate your patience for us getting back to you.

SpeedFancier race software is now available to our clubs. Please make sure your club members are a member of the CRPU. Only members will be able to use the software. Please go to the link above and add your club to the program. If you have any problems entering your club or members please contact the office and we will be happy to assist. There is also an email to Kyle Thompson you can get assistance from. Thank you for your support.

We have added a Beginner's Guide to the site under "Our Sport". This is the perfect starting point if you want to join the sport.
Canadian Racing Pigeon Union Incorporated
Please note bands purchased from off shore markets or a place not recognized by the CRPU should not be placed on birds which will be in competition. Based on our rules this is an offence and clubs and combines as well OLR should have due diligence in this matter. Let's keep the integrity of the sport and play fair. If you are able to obtain bands prior to the first of January this makes it unfair and gives a breeding edge and is not fair to those who purchase their bands through the correct channels. The few cent savings is not worth it to the sport and the monies from the sale of the CRPU bands helps us to promote the sport. Please adhere to the rule and purchase bands from the CRPU or a recognized union or federation. If you order bands from other recognized unions please make sure the bands are registered with the CRPU before you put the birds into competition. Please make sure the CU name is not placed on any off shore market bands as the name is a registered trademark and using the name will bring legal action to anyone found in offence. Please help by reporting any such bands to the CRPU if you know of someone doing this. Let's work together to keep the integrity in the sport.

Some interesting facts are:
- The stock markets of the world used racing pigeons until 1966 to get the news of the day trading from one city to another.
- Today racing pigeons are used in humanitarian efforts to fly blood out of the deepest jungles in Africa to be tested for the aids virus.
- That Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II alongside her love for horses and corgi dogs she also races pigeons from the Royal Lofts at Sandringham.
- That racing pigeons have been known to fly 700 miles in a single day.
- That many major world armies still retain their racing pigeon flocks.
